A failure anywhere along that path stops production. Slow or hollow ice usually means the water side is starving; no ice at all often means the freeze temperature or the harvest motor has quit.
Start with the Quick Checks
Confirm the maker is switched on, since a raised feeler arm or a bin sensor that thinks it is full will pause it. Check that the water shutoff behind or below the unit is fully open and that the filter is not overdue. Make sure the freezer or ice compartment is actually cold enough; a maker in a box that has drifted warm will not freeze on schedule. If the water and temperature both check out, the fault is in the valve, mold heater or harvest motor.

If you find water pooling under the unit or the cabinet floor, close the water shutoff before booking. A dripping inlet valve or a split saddle fitting can quietly damage flooring under a built-in for weeks before anyone notices.

Why Did My Ice Maker Stop After I Changed the Water Filter?
A new filter often traps air in the line. Run several dispenses of water to purge it, and give the maker a full cycle to refill. If a filter was left past its interval, sediment can also have reached the inlet valve, which then needs cleaning or replacement.
How Long Should a Built-In Ice Maker Take to Make Ice?
Most standard cube makers complete a harvest every ninety minutes to two hours once the compartment is at temperature. A dedicated clear-ice or nugget machine works on its own longer cycle. If nothing appears after a full day at temperature, something in the water, freeze or harvest chain has stalled.
Should I Keep Resetting the Ice Maker?
One reset after a filter change or power event is reasonable. Repeated resets on a maker that keeps failing usually just delay the diagnosis and can freeze water in the wrong places. If it fails twice, book a visit so we can find the actual stalled component.
